Radio Station 2GB have just come up with a unique support item. The presenters of the weekend golf show - “The Back Nine” - are
auctioning themselves off to raise funds for Variety. The 2GB staff - Joel Labi, Larry Canning and Gavin Pitchford will be joining the winner of this auction item for a round of golf at a top Sydney course TBA.
The auction will be carried out on the fundraising night and will certainly make for a most interesting auction!
The guys at The Ultimate Skirmish, have kindly donated a complete skirmish/paintball package including all equipment hire and lunch for 10 people to be auctioned off on the Bash Fundraising Dinner! A top prize for any individual or company! Good luck to all those who want to bid!
Thank you to Appliance Test and Tag Services for their generous support of the Warrior Legends Bash vehicles.

Recent upgrades to vehicles......
The Ultimate Suspension
have just about completed the suspension upgrade to
Car 800
. It will be picked up at the end of this month
Photos will follow in the next update.
A special thanks to Ken at The Ultimate Suspension.
The boys have recently all got together to replace the front bench seat in Car 2214. We removed the original bench seat and replaced them with bucket seats out of a Holden Commodore! The seats fit perfectly. Now we have built a centre console and fitted a fridge into the car as well.
We have also fitted the new rego plates on the Valiant and rearranged the roof to make the Jerry cans more accessible now that the car has been raised about 5 inches.
Thanks to Sam, Terry, Geoff and George for coming over and pitching in to make things happen!
New webpage to inform you about the car enhancements and modifications
There is some major preparation and modifications to be performed on both cars. To keep everyone up to speed on the changes to the cars, we have created a special page on our website. We will keep updating the page as more work is performed on the cars. Having said that, Car 2214 probably has the most work to be done - as you will see in the coming months!!! To view the changes and enhancements to BOTH cars, just click
Want to know where we are going on the 2011 Bash?
Go to
and take a look at the route map. It will show you the approximate route that we will be taking each day.
The map also compares the 2010 Bash route against the 2011 bash route. It makes interesting viewing I hope!
Much of our run through Queensland will be through townships devastated by the recent floods and cyclone and our donations to the schools, hospitals and Special Needs Centres will come at a time when it is most needed by these communities.
New webpage to inform you about where all the donations and sponsorship money is spent
A number of the supporters of our Bash Team have asked, out of curiosity, where the money raised goes and how is it spent.
Variety does not donate cash to the recipients. Variety actually purchased the needed items directly themselves and donates these to the various people and organisations that need them. Exactly what is bought can vary, however during a recent visit to my in-laws in Peakhurst, I came across a Sunshine Coach that had been donated to Peakhurst Public School to transport special needs children. I thought I should take a photo and include it in the next newsletter - just to show you how Variety touches many local communities and often under our very noses!!! For more information on where the money goes go to
The NSW Variety Bash was a great success and has raised in excess of $1.7 Million for special needs kids.
We were very privileged and honoured to be a part of something so positive.
Thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters, for without you, The Warrior Legends would never be able to help touch the lives of children in need.
Fact: Variety is very much a volunteer based organisation. As such, over 90 cents of every dollar raised actually reached the children that needed it!
Fact: in 2009, Variety has donated in excess of $13M to individual children, hospitals, schools, community groups and other charitable organisations.
The NSW branch of Variety (of which Car 2214 and Car 800 are part of) donated the following items in 2009:
$1,372,000 for hospital equipment,
$830,000 for 9 x Sunshine Coaches,
$379,000 for wheelchairs and mobility devices
$271,000 for vehicular modifications,

$75,000 for walking frames and strollers,
