Dear Friends and Supporters,
Welcome to the fourth newsletter for the 2011 Bash from the Warrior Legends. - Bash Cars 800 and 2214
Time is ticking with only
9 weeks
until the 2011 Bash
Our Big Fat Greek Fundraiser - what a party!
The night kicked off with our favourite comedian - George Kapiniaris who warmed up the crowd with his comedy.
Food and drinks were a plenty as was the music and dancing.
Congratulations to Michael Starr who, on the night had the lucky key to win the seat on the Spartan Bash Car.
Spartans are Red and Trojans are Blue - we travel Australia as the Warrior crew! (sorry, couldn't resist that one!)
And, a happy Michael Starr with the Spartan Boys
The things we will do in front of over 300 people to raise funds for Variety's Special Needs Children -
even the Warrior wives got into theme!
The Warrior Legends have so far raised
$27,700
for Variety and still going!
To-date, we have so far raised around $27,700 and are still hoping to meet our target of $35,000 raised by the end of July, 2010
Thank you to all who have supported us.

Recent upgrades to vehicles......
The Ultimate Suspension
have completed the suspension upgrade to Car 800
. It has now been picked up and last Sunday both cars were put on a hoist and checked over by the boys to ensure all is ready for this year's Bash. New grease, new oil, transmission and brake checks etc.
The cars are just about ready to go. They both pictured below - all themed up for the fundraising night and as they will be travelling on the Bash.
Car 800 is pretty much all set - not surprising considering it has already done 3 Bashes!
Car 2214 has recently fitted a limited slip diff - for those of you (like me) who are not mechanically minded - it just means that we can slide the car around dirt corners and have a bit more fun and get better traction on loose stuff.
Car 2214 will have its brakes overhauled this week and the wheel rims changed from alloy to more durable steel.
I am also hoping to replace the cable style transmission in Car 2214 with a more robust linkage system before the Bash (assuming one can be located in time).
Our
webpage to inform you about the car enhancements and modifications
There is some major preparation and modifications to be performed on both cars. To keep everyone up to speed on the
changes to the cars, we have created a special page on our website. We will keep updating the page as more work is performed
on the cars. Having said that, Car 2214 probably has the most work to be done - as you will see in the coming months!!!
To view the changes and enhancements to BOTH cars, go to http://www.warriorlegends.com.au/Car_Enhancements.html
Want to know where we are going on the 2011 Bash?
T
ake a look at the route map on our "About the Bash" webpage. It will show you the approximate route that we
will be taking each day. The map also compares the 2010 Bash route against the 2011 bash route. It makes interesting viewing
I hope! Much of our run through Queensland will be through townships devastated by the recent floods and cyclone and our
donations to the schools, hospitals and Special Needs Centres will come at a time when it is most needed by these communities.
New webpage to inform you about where all the donations and sponsorship money is spent
A number of the supporters of our Bash Team have asked, out of curiosity, where the money raised goes and how is it spent.
Variety does not donate cash to the recipients. Variety actually purchased the needed items directly themselves and donates these to the various people and organisations that need them. Exactly what is bought can vary, however during a recent visit to my in-laws in Peakhurst, I came across a Sunshine Coach that had been donated to Peakhurst Public School to transport special needs children. I thought I should take a photo and include it in the next newsletter - just to show you how Variety touches many local communities and often under our very noses!!! For more information on where the money goes go to:
http://www.warriorlegends.com.au/Where_does_the_money_go.html
The NSW Variety Bash was a great success and has raised in excess of $1.7 Million for special needs kids.
We were very privileged and honoured to be a part of something so positive.
Thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters, for without you,
The Warrior Legends would never be able to help touch the lives of children in need.
